Lakeside Theatre Studio (free, booking advised)
For Black History Month, the Lakeside Theatre and the Albert Sloman Library’s second event in the ‘Words with…’ series, exploring the relationship between writing and performance, features poet and filmmaker Caleb Femi.
As the Young People’s Laureate for London, Caleb offers a voice for young people to express their concerns and experiences through poetry: “Poetry is the one of the purest forms of conversation. At its best, it allows us to communicate from an honest and safe place. And young people deserve to be included in such spaces.”
As part of Black History Month celebrations at the University of Essex, this event is open to all University of Essex students, staff and alumni. Tickets are free but spaces are limited in the studio, and booking is required; please see Lakeside Theatre website for details: http://lakesidetheatre.org.uk/events/words-with-caleb-femi/
